    Breaking changes!!!

The following parameters have been removed:
    --store-config --remove-config --help-note --read-note --remove-note --list-notes.
To see the new usage for these, see cldr --help --config and cldr --help --note.

    Additions

    • -o --options can be combined with other parameters to see a list of allowed values. Try cldr --options --options to see what you can use it with! Also try cldr --help --options to see more information.
    • --dry can now be used to put cldr in "dry run" mode, meaning cldr will not make any changes to the disk. This is mostly useful for debugging, try DEBUG_LEVEL=-1 cldr --update --dry to see what it prints!
    • --curl can be used to force cldr to update the database with curl instead of wget. By default, cldr will try to use wget instead of curl, only using the latter if wget doesn't exist.

    Improvements

    • Error messages are now printed to stderr.
    • Stopped printing the invalid "1" characters, piping into a pager like less will now work much better.
    • Bash and Fish tab completions now show the options for config keys and languages, in addition to the platforms.

    Bugs fixes

    • General checks for file permissions, ensuring we have write access before writing.
    • Trying to edit a note when the notes directory didn't exist would lead to issues.

    Added bash completions!

cldr now has bash-completion support, if you would like completions in bash, ensure that you have the "bash-completion" package installed for your distro.

Additionally, the fish completions have been "upgraded" to be even better!

(By the way, I highly recommend using fish as your interactive shell, auto completions are much more intuitive with it. This is entirely optional and simply an opinion of mine)

    Optimizations!

The listing/searching functionality has been rewritten, cldr will now sort the list alphabetically, instead of whatever weird "sorting" it was doing before. This rewrite has also made searching roughly 2x faster!

    Fixed

    • Outdated help text displaying the deprecated notes parameters.
    • Some help menus would cause the terminal to get permanently colored, even after cldr has stopped running.
    • Added --dry to the fish completions script, and optimized the script slightly

    Additions

--dry parameter, you can now use cldr --dry [other operations] to run cldr without making any changes to the disk.

New "edit" note action, in addition to the previous values, you can now use TLDR_NOTE_ACTION=edit to make cldr open the specified note file in your editor when the file already exists.

When combining --plain with --version, cldr will now print just the version and the raw unix timestamp of the database.

    Improvements

Improved --color never and added it as a scripting optimization enabled by --scripting.

Made the config option for autoUpdate work a little better, if you have set the value to true or false, when updating the database, it will no longer ask if you'd like the database to be updated automatically, instead assuming a yes/no, respectively.

Made --config store only store the values that are different from the default values. For this reason I recommend that everyone runs cldr -C clear to get rid of any obsolete config values.

Combined listing and searching functionality, cldr will detect if you've specified a query, and either list or search dependingly.

    Optimizations

During the development of this update, I was constantly fighting to not increase the binary size of cldr as much as possible. Every addition I made, I optimized something else to keep the file size as close to the original as possible.
